An abstract on “Should cyber ethics be taught at school?” an article by Daniel Keegan.
What is cyber ethics? How do you teach it to your children or student? Should cyber ethics be taught at school? These are some question raised in this article.
Simply put, cyber ethics is a code of behavior for using internet. Generally student or children who use computer and internet do not believe that they are committing crime whenever they do it. Therefore, the lack of awareness is the main reason behind unethical behavior in the internet by students. Most of the young computer users do not think hacking, e-mail threats, cyber stalking, Intellectual Property Rights (such as in software or music) and virus distribution as crimes. Therefore, this should be included in the curriculum so that student will be aware about what they are doing is illegible or say unethical whenever they commit such crime in the internet.
In conclusion, to teach cyber citizenship to the young user of the internet we should address these issues in the curriculum and we should teach parents and others about cyber ethics so that student can learn and understand thing quickly and accurately.
